Jodi's Road Trip

hey everyone!  this is the first installation of jodi's road trip. so...i believe that the term urban camping applies to what i did last Friday with my husband at the luxurious downtown hotel 1000. just steps away from pike place market and the seattle art museum was where we showed up, dogs in tow...to spend a night and check it out. i dont think you have to be in the wilderness to get away from it all - or at least that's how i pitched it to my husband when he asked me to go camping. :)

the first thing you notice about hotel 1000 is that the attention to detail is impeccable - everything from thai linen bedding, to the soaking tub that fills from the ceiling (which was outrageous), to the full service concierge, and the list goes on and on. i'd like to think that if you're going to take the time to "get away", that this kind of service excellence is what you'd appreciate. not to belabor the dog issue, but the fact that they take dogs is huge for us....and the fact that every dog gets a bed, bottled water, and a basket full of dog treats from three dog bakery with their freaking names on it!!! c'mon!!! dog lovers - i know you appreciate it.

hotel 1000 has a fantastic spa, "spaaah", a fitness center, and they're attached to boka - which is at present my favorite spot for happy hour. you can always order food from there up to your room, which is a bonus if you're an urban camper (you're not supposed to leave the room!). and it's pretty easy not to leave these rooms - free wi-fi, books in case you forgot you own (cute), and molton brown products are almost as attractive as the 50" sony plasma screen with all the movies you can watch.

i loved it. and they didn't treat me any better then they treat everyone....with service excellence, like you are a very special guest that deserves hot spiced cider on a cold day, and your car pulled around for you, warmed up and waiting when it's time to leave. i will, without a doubt, come back to hotel 1000 for another round of "i'm not cooking or cleaning tonight" urban camping, and if i ever have to recommend a downtown hotel to someone coming into seattle i couldn't imagine anywhere more impressive.

check out their packaging specials soon. the holiday one is sweet!

view from the room
where i live in west seattle i have a view of my nieghbor's broke down car in their yard. this is better.
